String Quartets Op. 76 Nos. 4 & 6
Album by Joseph Haydn & Orlando String Quartet
String Quartets Op. 76 Nos. 4 and 6 are two of the six string quartets in Joseph Haydn's Op. 76 set, composed in 1797. They exemplify Classical-era chamber music with balanced four-part writing, clear textures, motivic development and formal sophistication, and they come from Haydn's mature period in which he consolidated his quartet technique and helped define the classical string quartet repertoire.
