Symphonie No. 4

Symphonie No. 4 is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1901. The work is scored for a late-Romantic orchestra and uses comparatively lighter orchestration and more classical forms than his earlier large-scale symphonies, concluding with a soprano singing a setting of a childlike poem; it occupies a transitional place in Mahler's output between his earlier monumental symphonies and his later, more introspective works.
