The M400 is an electro-mechanical keyboard manufactured by Streetly Electronics and introduced in 1970. It used pre-recorded tape strips of orchestral instruments to produce hauntingly imperfect string and flute sounds, and was used by The Beatles, King Crimson, and Genesis to define the sound of progressive rock and psychedelia.
