Synthwave, which emerged in the late 2000s, is basically what happens when retro-futurism collides with an 80s sci-fi film soundtrack, and yes, that does mean lots of synths. It’s a delightful melange of nostalgia-inducing beats and neon-drenched aesthetics that sounds like a roller disco party on the Death Star.
