Solo Bass

Solo Bass emerged in the late 20th century, pioneered by intrepid musicians who realised that one bass was enough to fill a room whilst conveniently avoiding the need for bandmates. Characterised by intricate fingerstyle techniques and a bewildering array of effects pedals, it sounds like a conversation between the bass and itself, with occasional cheeky winks at the audience. If you think playing the bass solo is just an excuse to show off, you might be right, but let's be honest, we all secretly love the deep, groovy vibes.
