Rockabilly

Rockabilly emerged in the 1950s in the southern United States, when a bunch of musicians decided to merge rock and roll with country music, probably whilst sipping sweet tea and wearing pompadours. It features upright bass slaps and twangy guitars that could make even a funeral feel like a hoedown; if Elvis had a twin who wore plaid and drove a muscle car, you’d be looking at rockabilly. Fans of the genre say it’s the only music that makes greasers and pin-up girls feel like they’re dancing through time, rather than just in a retro movie marathon.
