Post Punk Revival

Post-punk revival emerged in the early 2000s, predominantly in the UK, when bands decided that the 1980s had far too much hair and not enough existential dread; they promptly rectified this oversight. Characterised by angular guitar riffs, tight rhythms, and a vocal delivery that often resembles someone simultaneously pondering life’s problems and ordering a pint, it’s as if The Cure went to art school and returned pretending to be cool. The genre also suggested that if you can’t dance to it, you might still want to nod your head thoughtfully whilst pretending to be deeply introspective – a true win-win for anyone avoiding the disco floor.
