New Orleans Jazz

New Orleans Jazz originated in the early 20th century, blending African American musical traditions with European influences, which sounds rather sophisticated until you realise it involves a lot of improvised trumpet solos and collective enthusiasm. Characterised by its lively rhythms and playful melodies, it often features musicians taking turns to showcase their virtuosity, as if each one's trying to outdo the last while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. This genre not only gave the world a reason to tap their feet but also spawned a myriad of subgenres, each more fuelled by spirited debate than the last about which is truly 'authentic.'
