Latin Jazz
Latin Jazz emerged in the mid-20th century, particularly in Cuba and the United States, where musicians combined the intricate rhythms of Afro-Cuban music with the improvisational flair of jazz; it's like if two delightful worlds accidentally collided at a fiesta. Characterised by lively percussion, syncopated rhythms, and brass instruments doing their best to outshine each other, this genre makes it hard to sit still; every beat practically screams for a conga line. Fun fact: it’s sometimes hard to differentiate between what constitutes Latin Jazz and just a really good time at a wedding, but no one’s complaining about that, are they?
