Krautrock

Krautrock emerged in late 1960s Germany, primarily as a reaction to the societal upheaval of the time and the pressing need for more experimental sounds; it turns out some Germans are rather fond of lengthy jams and odd time signatures. Characterised by a blend of electronic experimentation, surreal lyrics, and an unshakeable sense of groove, it sounds like the band next door took a three-hour break from their reality to create the soundtrack for an intergalactic road trip. The genre's influence is so far-reaching that you might just find it in everything from modern techno to your mate's questionable playlist on a Saturday night.
