Japanese Pop

Japanese Pop, or J-Pop as the cool kids call it, burst onto the scene in the 1990s, combining traditional melodies with Western pop influences, rather like putting a sushi twist on a cheeseburger. It's characterised by catchy hooks, bubblegum enthusiasm, and often the kind of choreography that makes you question your own fitness levels. Some might say it’s a sonic ode to optimism, albeit one that often leaves you pondering just why you’re suddenly so fond of brightly coloured outfits and overly enthusiastic dance routines.
