Gypsy Jazz

Gypsy Jazz, or jazz manouche, kicked off in the 1930s in France, where guitarists decided that finger-picking was vastly superior to any sort of singing, likely to spare the world from their vocal talents. It features fast-paced rhythms, sizzling guitar solos, and a distinctively swingy vibe, as if the musicians have hidden their metronomes under the table for a cheeky game of musical tag. The genre has since inspired countless hipster cafés, where patrons pretentiously discuss existentialism whilst trying not to spill their organic fair-trade lattes.
