Ethereal Wave
Ethereal Wave floated into existence in the 1980s, emerging from the misty depths of British and European post-punk scenes, as if someone had decided that hauntingly beautiful sounds were the perfect antidote to life's mundanity. This genre is characterised by airy vocals, lush synths, and a propensity to sound as if it had been recorded in a cathedral during a foggy evening; ethereal, indeed. If you ever fancied yourself daydreaming in a cloud, sipping tea whilst contemplating existential dread, this might just be your soundtrack.
