Edm
EDM, or Electronic Dance Music, really found its feet in the late 1980s, notably in Chicago and Detroit, when someone thought it was a grand idea to make people dance like mad without a guitarist in sight. Characterised by pulsating beats and extravagant drops, it’s essentially the sound of a nightclub throwing a rave whilst simultaneously giving your eardrums a thorough workout. It has become the soundtrack to festival culture, illustrating that with enough bass, even your grandma might be tempted to get her glow sticks out.
