Contemporary Folk
Contemporary Folk music really took off in the 1960s, blending traditional acoustic melodies with the sort of heartfelt lyrics that could make a grown man weep into his pint. With its use of simple instrumentation and storytelling, you might say it’s like having a chat with a particularly philosophical mate who’s just a touch too invested in their own emotions. It’s a bit of a ‘bring-your-own-mate’ vibe, where everyone gathers to sing about the human experience—preferably whilst seated on hay bales in a field somewhere.
