Chill Out

Chill-out music, which sauntered onto the scene in the late 1980s, is essentially what happens when you take techno, downtempo, and a well-deserved holiday and mash them together; it became a staple in clubs and bars where people wanted to relax without falling asleep. This genre floats along on smooth melodies and ambient sounds, creating an idyllic soundscape perfect for sipping cocktails or pretending to look busy at work. Oddly enough, it has become so synonymous with relaxation that many now associate it with a certain brunch aesthetic, because nothing says 'I’m sophisticated' quite like a side of avocados with your chill beats.
