Georg Friedrich Haas is an Austrian composer of contemporary classical music, born in Graz in 1953, who began his career in the late 1970s and has been active as a composer and educator within the European new-music scene. His work is associated with spectral techniques and microtonality, exploring timbre, tuning systems and perceptual phenomena across chamber, orchestral and operatic forms and often employing extended techniques and unconventional performance conditions.
