Jacquet of Mantua

Jacquet of Mantua was a French-born Renaissance composer who spent most of his career in Mantua, active from the early 16th century and working primarily in the sacred polyphonic tradition. His output of masses, motets and Lamentations reflects the Franco-Flemish contrapuntal technique adapted to Italian liturgical settings, combining careful counterpoint with clear textual expression that shaped local sacred music practice.
