Doc Watson was an American guitarist and singer from Deep Gap, North Carolina, who began his professional career in the early 1960s and became associated with folk, bluegrass and country music. He was noted for his flatpicking guitar technique and a repertoire drawn from Appalachian traditional songs, blues and gospel, and across several decades he recorded extensively and appeared at folk festivals and concert venues connected with the American folk revival.
