Giovanni Sgambati
Giovanni Sgambati was an Italian pianist and composer born in Rome in 1841 who began his career in the mid-19th century and worked primarily within the Romantic classical tradition across Italy and Europe. His output encompassed piano works, chamber music and orchestral pieces, and he actively promoted instrumental music in Italy while drawing on German Romantic influences in his harmonic language and formal structures.
