Jennifer Higdon is an American composer of contemporary classical music, born in Brooklyn in 1962 and active from the late 20th century, who established her career primarily in the United States. Her work is characterised by clear tonal centres, vivid orchestration and rhythmic drive across solo, chamber, choral and orchestral repertoire, evolving toward large-scale concertos and orchestral works that engage American musical traditions and contemporary audiences.
