Isang Yun (윤이상) was a Korean-born contemporary classical composer who began his career in the mid-20th century and spent much of his professional life working in Europe. His music fused Western avant-garde techniques, including serialism and extended instrumental methods, with East Asian musical aesthetics and traditional motifs, and his later work explored electroacoustic elements and timbral experimentation while engaging debates about cultural exchange in 20th-century classical music.
