Maria Stader

Maria Stader was a Hungarian-born Swiss lyric soprano, born in Budapest in 1911, who began her professional career in the 1930s and worked in both operatic and concert repertoire. She was particularly associated with Mozart and German lieder, exhibiting a light, agile voice and clarity of diction, and her career progressed from concert appearances to leading operatic roles and numerous recordings within mid-20th-century European classical music.
