Peter Heise

Peter Heise was a Danish composer born in 1830 who studied composition and began his career in the mid-19th century, working primarily in the Romantic tradition and composing art songs, piano music and operas. His music combined lyrical vocal writing and folk-influenced melodies within a Romantic harmonic language, and he played a role in shaping Danish art song and national musical discourse during the 19th century.
