Symphony Orchestra of the Curtis Institute

The Curtis Symphony Orchestra is the principal student orchestra of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, formed as the institute's orchestral ensemble shortly after the conservatoire was established in 1924 to train students in the classical repertoire. Focusing on classical and contemporary orchestral repertoire, the ensemble has developed through regular concert seasons, educational initiatives and tours, reflecting shifts in programming and pedagogy within American conservatoire culture.
