Peter Banks was an English guitarist from Chobham, Surrey, who began his professional career in the mid-1960s and was a founding member of the progressive rock band Yes before leading his own group Flash and later releasing solo material. His playing combined melodic lead lines, heavily amplified electric guitar tones and early use of effects, and over his career he moved from psychedelic and progressive rock into more concise hard-rock and instrumental solo work while contributing session and production work within the British rock scene.
