Martha Mödl
Martha Mödl was a German opera singer who began her professional career in the late 1930s and became closely associated with the Wagner and Strauss repertoire. Her repertoire exemplified the late-Romantic German dramatic tradition, and across a post-war career she shifted from lower-lying mezzo parts into the heftier dramatic-soprano roles before later appearing in character and mezzo parts as her voice matured within mid-20th-century German opera.
