Adriaan Willaert

Adriaan Willaert was a Flemish Renaissance composer who was born in the Low Countries and established his career in Venice in the early 16th century, working in both sacred and secular vocal genres. His music features intricate polyphony, clear text-setting in motets and madrigals and explorations of chromatic and antiphonal effects, which contributed to the emergence of the Venetian School and influenced subsequent European compositional practice.
