Johnny Mercer

Johnny Mercer was an American lyricist, singer and songwriter from Savannah, Georgia, who began his professional career in the late 1920s and worked across popular song, jazz and the Hollywood film music industry. His lyrical style often employed conversational phrasing, regional vernacular and strong melodic hooks, and over a long career he moved between radio, film and publishing to help establish many songs from the American popular-song repertoire as standards.
