Claudin de Sermisy
Claudin de Sermisy was a French composer of the Renaissance, active from the early 16th century and associated with Paris and the royal chapel, whose output included numerous secular chansons alongside sacred vocal works. His style favoured clear, homophonic textures and lyrical, text-focused melodies that helped define the French chanson and influenced the development of both secular and liturgical vocal music in the Renaissance cultural context.
