William Steinberg

William Steinberg was a German-born conductor who began his career in the 1920s and worked primarily in the orchestral classical repertoire after emigrating to the United States. He served as music director of several American and European orchestras and was noted for a clear, disciplined conducting style that emphasised fidelity to the score and a balanced orchestral sound.
