Schuppanzigh-Quartett
The Schuppanzigh-Quartett was a Viennese string quartet formed around 1800 to perform classical chamber music and newly composed quartet repertoire. Closely associated with the premiere of contemporary works, it introduced technically demanding writing that expanded quartet technique and influenced performance practice and the reception of the string quartet within Viennese musical culture.
