Yasushi Akutagawa

Yasushi Akutagawa (芥川也寸志) was a Japanese composer and conductor born in Tokyo in 1925 who began his career in the postwar period, composing for concert stages as well as film and theatre. His work blended Western classical forms and modernist techniques with Japanese musical elements, and he was active in promoting contemporary music through composition and conducting.
