Anton Heiller was an Austrian organist, harpsichordist and composer born in Vienna in 1923 who studied at the Vienna Academy of Music and began his performing and teaching career in the mid-20th century. Rooted in the Bach and Baroque organ tradition, his work and teaching combined historically informed performance, improvisation and contemporary compositional techniques, producing a substantial output of organ, choral and chamber music that informed Austrian church and concert repertoires of his era.
