The Golden Gate Quartet
The Golden Gate Quartet are an American gospel vocal group formed in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1934, rooted in the jubilee quartet tradition and early gospel harmony. Known for close-harmony arrangements that blend spirituals, jubilee and swing influences, they evolved over decades to incorporate elements of blues and rhythm-and-blues while performing on radio and touring internationally, helping to bring gospel harmony into broader popular-music contexts.
