Garth Knox is a violist and composer from the British Isles who established his career in contemporary classical ensembles from the late 1970s onwards, specialising in solo, chamber and ensemble work. He works on both the viola and the viola d'amore, with a repertoire that spans contemporary composition, improvisation and crossover with folk and world music, and he has expanded the instruments' roles through extended techniques and new commissions in modern programmes.
