Gary Bartz

Gary Bartz is an American jazz alto saxophonist and bandleader who emerged from the New York jazz scene in the 1960s and has worked across post-bop, soul-jazz and jazz-fusion genres. His playing combines bebop-influenced improvisation with rhythmic motifs drawn from funk and R&B, and over decades he has led ensembles, recorded as a leader and collaborated in both avant-garde and groove-oriented contexts.
