John Wilbye
John Wilbye was an English composer of madrigals active in the late 16th and early 17th centuries who worked in Suffolk, notably in the household at Hengrave Hall. He specialised in five- and six-part madrigals characterised by expressive word-setting, text painting, contrapuntal writing and occasional chromaticism, and his two published sets form part of the English madrigal repertoire.
