Carlos Guastavino

Carlos Guastavino was an Argentine composer born in the province of Santa Fe in 1912 who established his career in Buenos Aires composing art songs, choral works and piano music within the classical tradition. Rooted in Argentine folk and criollo traditions, his music favours lyrical, tonal melodies and guitar-like accompaniments and largely remained within a romantic/post‑Romantic idiom, contributing to Argentina's vocal repertoire and national musical identity.
