Alexandr Dmitriyevich Kastalsky
Alexander Dmitrievich Kastalsky was a Russian composer and choral conductor born in Moscow in 1856 who began his career in the late 19th century and worked primarily in sacred and choral genres. He blended Orthodox liturgical tradition with folk-song material and choral arrangements, developing a distinctive national choral style that evolved through the pre-revolutionary and early Soviet period and helped shape Russian choral practice.
