Alberto Nepomuceno

Alberto Nepomuceno was a Brazilian composer and conductor born in Fortaleza in 1864 who began his career in the late 19th century and worked primarily in the genres of art song, choral, orchestral and piano music. Influenced by late Romantic European models, he advocated singing in Portuguese and incorporated Brazilian folk elements into his compositions while promoting national repertoire through teaching and conducting.
