Ödön Pártos

Ödön Pártos was a Hungarian-born Israeli violist and composer, born in Budapest in 1907, who trained in Central Europe and established his career as a performer before emigrating to British Mandate Palestine in the 1930s and working primarily in classical, chamber and orchestral repertoire. His compositional style melded Western classical structures with Eastern Mediterranean and Jewish melodic elements, evolving to incorporate modernist techniques and a continued emphasis on chamber and orchestral works that contributed to the development of mid-20th-century Israeli art music.
