Valerie Coleman

Valerie Coleman is an American flautist and composer from Columbia, South Carolina, who began her professional career in the early 2000s and works primarily in classical and contemporary chamber music. Her compositions and performances blend classical chamber forms with jazz, Afro-Latin rhythms and contemporary techniques, and she has been active as a performer, composer and educator who promotes greater representation of Black composers and performers in the classical music sphere.
