Lawrence Gowan is a Scottish‑born Canadian singer-songwriter and keyboardist who launched his solo career in Canada in the early 1980s, working across pop, synth-pop and progressive rock. His music blends piano-based songwriting and synthesiser textures with elements of new wave and arena rock, evolving from 1980s synth-pop into a more guitar- and keyboard-driven rock sound after he joined the American rock band Styx in 1999, and he has continued to record and tour within North American rock contexts.
