John Wetton was an English singer, bassist and songwriter from Willington, Derbyshire, who began his professional career in the late 1960s and became associated primarily with progressive rock, art rock and melodic rock. His musical style combined a resonant baritone vocal delivery with melodic bass lines, and across his career he moved between experimental progressive projects and more commercially oriented rock, appearing as a member of several prominent bands from the 1970s onwards.
