Michel Waisvisz was a Dutch electronic musician and instrument designer who began his career in the 1970s and was closely associated with the STEIM centre in Amsterdam, working within experimental electronic and electroacoustic music. His practice combined live electronic improvisation, circuit-bending and tactile gestural controllers, and his instrument designs, including the Cracklebox and The Hands, contributed to the development of live performance practice at the intersection of technology and sound art.
