Salvatore Baccaloni

Salvatore Baccaloni was an Italian operatic bass from Rome, born in 1900, who began his professional career in the early 1920s and specialised in the comic operatic (buffo) repertoire. Specialising in comic bass roles, he performed across major European and American opera houses with a repertoire that included works by Rossini, Donizetti and Verdi, and his recordings and performances influenced mid-20th-century interpretations of opera buffa.
