Daniel van Goens was a late 19th-century cellist and composer active in the Netherlands and France, whose career centred on performance and composition within the Romantic-era salon and chamber-music traditions. His output comprised short salon pieces and works for cello and piano that combine Romantic melodic phrasing with virtuosic writing and were commonly performed in domestic and small-concert settings of the period.
