Jay Ungar is an American folk musician and fiddler from the Bronx, New York, who began performing professionally in the 1970s and works primarily within folk, old-time and Americana traditions. His musical style emphasises lyrical, melodic fiddle lines and traditional dance forms, and his instrumental composition "Ashokan Farewell" was prominently used in a major television documentary programme about the American Civil War, illustrating his contribution to contemporary American folk repertoire.
