Vítězslava Kaprálová
Vítězslava Kaprálová was a Czech composer and conductor born in Brno in 1915 who began her musical career in the 1930s studying composition and conducting and worked primarily in the Western classical tradition. Her output includes orchestral, chamber and vocal works that blend lyrical neo-Romanticism with modernist harmonies and rhythmic drive, and her career—marked by conducting engagements at home and abroad—was curtailed by her early death in 1940.
